Smaugust 2026, Week Two: Days 8 to 14

Extreme close-up of an enormous closed dragon eye, the hide around it cracked and weathered like dry stone.

Week two of the @myst.does.ai Smaugust prompt list, and this is where it stopped being a list of dragons and started being a list of situations. A closed eye the size of a quarry. A chrome dragon in an office. Nine floral dragons, because I could not stop.

The whole month: Week One, days 1–7 · Week Two, days 8–14 · Week Three, days 15–21 · Week Four, days 22–31

Day 8 · Ancient Sleeper

Just the eye. Closed, cracked, weathered like a quarry face. Past a certain age a dragon stops being an animal and starts being terrain, and the other three in this set are what happens when it keeps going past that.

Day 9 · Dragon Gardener

A room where the walls went green and the gardener is a skull in the flowerbed. Something has been tending this for a long time and it is doing a beautiful job. The dune one is the same idea from further away: one green circle in a dead place, and something asleep in the middle of it.

Day 10 · Y2K Chrome

Chrome dragon, beige CRTs, fluorescent tubes, carpet that has seen things. It lives in the server room now and nobody is filing a ticket about it. The office one has green and red teeth for no reason I can defend and I love it.

Day 11 · Tide Dragon

Orca markings, green water, sunbeams coming down in columns. Friendliest thing in the whole month and it still weighs nine tons. Then the storm one turns up on the same day riding a wave the size of the cliff, so apparently the tide has moods.

Day 12 · Tiny Familiar

White hair, black gown, gothic hall, wheelchair, and a small dragon up on the chair back like it belongs there, because it does. Familiars pick you. I ran her four ways, gothic, hedge witch, lab, and summoning circle, and nobody in any of them is being carried.

Day 13 · Steampunk

Rivets, iron plate, and an open furnace chest full of coals. This one doesn’t breathe fire, it just runs hot, and somebody has to shovel. There’s a blueprint in here too, which is the least romantic image of the month and I kept it in on purpose.

Day 14 · Floral Dragon

Nine of them. This is the day I could not stop. Red spider lilies, which if you know, you know: grey sky, red field, red dragon standing in the middle of it doing absolutely nothing, and it’s still the loudest picture here. Then there’s one lying in a daisy meadow looking like the friendliest animal alive, on the same prompt, on the same day.
